The EF-610 DG ST Flash is the most powerful one yet, now offering a Guide number of 61 which translates into 61/m (200/ft) and designed to work with the latest TTL auto exposure systems of all the most popular digital and film SLR cameras. It features TTL automatic flash exposure control for easy operation. The auto zoom function automatically sets the optimum illumination angle in accordance with the lens' focal length in a range from 24mm to 105mm. When the built-in Wide Panel is used, the flash can cover the angle of 17mm. For bounce flash, the flashgun head can be tilted up and to the right by 90 degrees, or to the left 180 degrees. It can also be tilted down by 7 degrees allowing ease of use for close-up photography. In addition to automatic mode, the flashgun also features a manual flash mode, making it possible to set the flash power to full or 1/16. When the flashgun is fully charged, a confirmation "ready" light will be emitted and the flash exposure level can be checked through the camera's viewfinder. Also includes Auto Power-Off function to help save battery power.
Sigma EF-610 DG ST Electronic Flash for Canon Digital SLR Cameras Reviews

As a professional photographer who primarily uses my flashes off camera I need a bit more flexibility than I did when I first started using this flash. The only negative thing I can find about this flash is that outside of the P-TTL mode, it only has two settings, High and Low. However, for anyone who is simply going to attach this to their camera's shoe mount this is perfect! P-TTL (auto adjusted flash) works great with my Pentax KX, my K10 and my K5. Since these cameras are at opposite ends of the Pentax line, I'm sure it will work for any of the Pentax models just fine. You can see how I have used it some at my site. I can only name two faults with it:1. It takes literally minutes to initially charge, even with fresh batteries. This is extremely annoying if I just want to grab the camera and take a quick shot. 2. The interface is absolutely atrocious. Each mode has a use but they're unintuitive and the button interface is clunky. I don't expect a touch screen but it'd be nice if we'd progress a bit from 1980s watch designs. Works perfectly on my K-7. Get some gels and get flashing! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Ashu (USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Sigma EF-610 DG ST Electronic Flash for Sigma Digital SLR Cameras (Electronics) I just got this Sigma EF-610 DG ST Flash for Sigma SD Camera. The flash seems to work fine so far with Sigma SD15 and SD14 on sigma TTL but it doesn't work on my old Sigma SD10. I was using mainely the bounced flash off of white celling wall in the room at night for testing purpose. On Sigma SD10 (an older model) the Sigma EF-610ST flash does auto zoom and changes the focal length, it also does preLED flashes to assist camera focusing in dark but SD10 won't meter the scene properly. Using Aperture Priority setting Shutter speed on SD10 stay to 1/8 or 1/10 sec at f8 insted of 1/60 of sec or so normaly with automated shoe mounted flash. I had to use manual mode on SD10 and set the shutter speed what I need. The Sigma should have created this flash backword compatible with users of an older Sigma camera model. |
